This is why we picked SW Colorado, milder winter. We get snow, but not nearly that much. With an avg annual snowfall of 94.1", Lander is definitely off the table,.
I agree with you... pretty good balance imo. I have considered moving further west in Nebraska though. While I'm 15+ years from retirement, I cannot see myself moving from Nebraska on retirement. All our family is here, and moving is just not something I see myself doing. Good waterfowl, turkey and deer hunting in NE, and I'm only 8-10 hours drive from mountains.
Good luck in your search!
Whoa....I've been here 17 years and don't consider myself a Californian anymore, besides most of them live on the Denver side of the mts!Colorado has toooooo many Californians for me... Lol
But how is the waterfowl hunting? This is why we picked SW Colorado, milder winter. We get snow, but not nearly that much.
Waterfowl hunting in general will be best east of the front range no matter what state you are looking at. If you want to live in the mountains, you are going to deal with a shorter local season. Doesn't mean you can't kill birds but there won't be as many and they won't be there as long. But how is the waterfowl hunting?
