I have a Lansky and Gatco and like them both but after checking out the KME I am impressed! I may have to pick one up. Thanks 6mm.
I may still get one of those myself Mike! I so wish I would have done this years ago! Now my friends all ask me to sharpen knives for them. It's kind of relaxing and I take pride in getting them scary sharp!

I highly suggest getting the Lansky sharpening system. I could not sharpen a knife but boy can I dull one. With this system, I can sharpen a knife so sharp the hair literally falls of your arm when you shave it with your knife. It's not a fast system to get that edge, but once you get the edge on both sides of the knife just right, when you touch it up it only takes a few minutes and it's back to great shape again.

If I had not purchased the Lansky and had found this one before I made the purchase, I likely would have gone with this one. Both are great though.

It sure is nice to have sharp knives in the house! Kitchen, pocket, and hunting, and everyone is super sharp!!
That kmesharp is pretty pricey @ $175.00.

Yeah I know it's pricey, but it us USA made and looks to be superb quality and will put a heck of an edge on the knives. I am happy with the Lansky as it does an excellent job for me. I just think the KME is pretty darn sweet and would work very well.

Get an electric Cabelas unit with the two diamond wheels (coarse and medium) and one stropping wheel for final blade prep. We've had our unit for 8 or 9 years and it still works great. Costs about $150 the last time I looked. I can sharpen just fine on conventional stones but you can't beat sharpening every kitchen knife, pocket knife and Leatherman in the house in about 2 minutes with the electric sharpener. It is especially nice when cutting up a moose or elk at home. Note that you only need to run the knife across the stropping wheel the first time or two it dulls, then go to a single pass on the medium followed by stropping on the third sharpening. The first initial sharpening on the electric sharpener may take a few minutes if the blade angle is significantly "blunter" than the electric sharpener, but that is the only time it takes very long.

You can even use the unit to sharpen broadheads with replaceable blades or mechanical blades. I hold them with a pair of needlenose vice grip pliers. Everything comes out shaving sharp.
