My left knee was totally gone (replaced the right one 20 years ago). Had it replaced last month. Everything was going great in my rehab, way ahead of schedule. On my way to PT a week and a half ago, I slipped and fell on some ice that was covered with snow so I didn't see it. I completely severed the quadricep tendon. Had surgery Thursday to reattach then tendon. My Dr said total separations are rare. Full recovery is probably 50-50. I am in a full leg brace to prevent me from bending my knee for the next 3 months. Recover is not going to be fun....looks like my hunting this year is gone. I have until the first week of April to make up mind mind what I am going to do.

My advice is don't do this....not fun!

I have found that as I get older that I need to watch where I step and how I do it. I learned this a couple of months ago when I slipped on some ice while shoveling snow. I came down on a planter box and cracked two ribs. They are close to being healed up now but I still need to watch what I am doing with that side.

So take things easy and sit on that porch of yours and enjoy the spring weather when you get some. As for hunting you can be like me and pick up a few more points and then start looking real hard at 2024. It'll give you time to do some research and planning.

Sorry to hear that CC....it's those unexpected incidents that come up and bite you the worst. You've come a long way the last couple years, and now you have the challenge of this recovery while maintaining your weight loss without being able to get around much. As Chief Dan George said, "Endeavor to Persevere."

Oh man that sucks, but from seeing the history of all the things you've went through and came out strong, I bet you will be on the positive side of that 50-50! Like Jim said, enjoy your beautiful property and prepare for some good hunts down the road.
Take care CC

Got all of the stitches out yesterday. Swelling gone and no pain. I am starting PT next Wednesday. Still have to have the knee in a brace so I can't bend it for 8 to 10 more weeks. H ad my first shower in 2 weeks this afternoon and got on the scales and I have lost another 10#. Weight 224 stripped. That is 60# since I started my dieting 18 months ago. Looks like 200 is possible by end of summer.
