Kicking around getting a Kifaru pack and I'm looking at the Duplex Timberline.

For those that have one how do you haul the meat out? Obviously you could place it directly in the bag. But, is there a way to carry it between the bag and frame (similar to Stone Glacier) so you can keep things clean and not have blood get all over the inside of your bag? I hate placing the meat inside a pack if I don't have to as I like to try to keep a little air flow moving around the meat, especially if it is still warm.

Some of their packs have that capability, others don't. Almost all of their packs have the ability to remove the frame and use it as a meat hauler only though.

I have heard the Kuiu meat shelf fits together with the Kifaru system. I think the Kifaru system relies hevely on the top sleeve to hold the weight. I think if you use a Kifaru grabit to hold up the weight, you could make that work. When in doubt, call Aron or the other guys at Kifaru and pick their brain. They test extensively. I am sure they have tried about everything possible.

i am not positive but you might be able to get a cargo panel in between frame and a DT1. or like mentioned above a grab-it could help not sure how well it will work on a "meat" pack, but bone in pcs should work well. i have a AMR and have a meat bag for the inside and also a mountain rambler which has a meat shelf similar to kuiu type set up.

The guys at Kifaru are very happy to help. Aron designs most of their packs and has a vast knowlage of packing put game.

I'll have to try giving them a call.

Kifaru packs are the bomb, I use a Timberline 3 and use it to haul out boned out meat it will handle upwards of 80 lbs easily, the Duplex gives you the ability to pack quarters directly behind the pack next to the frame, but it is best to use a meat shelf. I am getting a Exo T 2000 day pack that has the external Titainum frame and you can just hinge the top of the pack away from the frame to slide a quarter or any other items you might want to pack out or in with. Will add a 3500 or 5500 bag to the system if it works out. But the guys at Kifaru are top notch and will bend over backwards to assit you.

I've done a lot of hauling with my Timberline 2 and EMR 2. I have never had meat spoil inside my pack. I usually put the meat quarters in garbage bags which keeps blood from getting on the pack and other gear. It's possible to loosen the side straps and put the meat, cape, etc between the pack and bag. The bags I have have a flap that goes over the top of the frame so the bag/load may not be as stable? There are also other attachments and long straps that the meat could be attached to the outside of the bag.

I'm not sure what size game you'll be hauling but the EMR 2 has gobs of room. I bought it for an Alaska sheep hunt last year. It was possible to get a large chunk of the meat, lifesized cape, rifle, and a bunch of gear into my pack. For super bulky/hefty loads I'd suggest the EMR 2. I used it a couple weeks ago to haul a bunch of turkey decoys up some cliffs and 2 miles back to where I was gobbler hunting. I got a 20ish lb tom so had an even bulkier load on the way out!

Stone Glacier makes a great pack. If I wouldn't have gotten a Kifaru I likely would have gone with SG. The nice thing about Kifaru is I can interchange bags....Timberline if I want a smaller pack with lots of great pockets and the EMR for super bulky loads. If I wanted to go super light I could likely get a different bag.

If you want advice on Kifaru packs I would suggest posting or doing a search on the Rokslide or Kifaru forums. There are also a bunch of videos available on their website or yourtube.
