Kestrel Function

Just want to verify I am doing this right. Just upgraded from an old analog to a Kestrel 2000.
Not really a gun & ammo item, but I plan on using this for long range shooting.

You need to hold the Kestrel with screen facing you but, with your face pointing directly into the wind.
Is that correct?

My understanding is the Kestrel will not accurately measure wind speed on a cross wind.

Please let me know if I am doing this correctly.

I use one of these for spraying fields. I hold the screen facing me and face into the wind to get a reading. never read the instructions, but thats how I do it as well

You would hold the unit inline with your rifle. In this case the screen would be facing to the left or right of the rifle, this will give you cross wind. Then you would just have to look around at the screen to see the reading.
