Thank you guys for your input, I really appreciate it... When I get back and am able to I think I'm going to try BH 209 to power some Hornady FPB or Thor bullets, depending on which one shoots best. When I was using JSG I was using 100grains but never chrono'd it. Also, why do you need a different breech plug with BH 209 in a CVA? Is it because the shotgun primer has more pressure or because its a slighter bigger/smaller diameter? Was also thinking about Hodgdon Pyrodex Select, any thoughts? Aside from PowerBelts (personally dont like) and Maxi-Ball/Hunters are there any other good full bore bullets out there any of y'all would recommend?

I think the breech plug has a bigger hole in it for BH209. The way I understand it is its harder to light and thats why you have to use only shotgun 209's and needs the different breech plug. I would not use pyrodex. Not that its a bad powder but its kinda dirty. Pyrodex is the origional BP sub. I use 777, is alot cleaner burning powder. Have not used them but always hear good things about Thor bullets. The nice thing about them is they come in different sizes so you can get the size that fits your barrel best. I use FPB's and they are good as long as your gun likes them.

Ya thats what I heard about the FPBs. I emailed the gentlemen at Thor and he is sending me a test kit to see which size fits my rifle the best. Thank you, I will definitely be sure to try the 777 before the pyrodex, I hate dirty barrels- I shoot a flintlock with real BP and that is a Pain in the ... Was actually thinking of bringing that with me to CO for the elk hunt as well.. Do you know of any rules that would limit me in backpacking 2 M/L in but only hunting with one at a time?

A flintlock, thats the real deal! I have never herd of any rule that says you cant have an extra ML in camp. I have been happy with 777, alot happier then I was with pyrodex. I use fffg. IMO the finer powder burns a bit better and cleaner. I cant use BH209 in WA because cant use a 209 here so that is why I have stayed with 777.

Thats not a real muzzle loader. LOL Is that thing legal in any state?
Let's evaluate the name:

"muzzle" meaning the end of the barrel.

"loader" referring to where the gun is loaded.

The rifle is loaded from the muzzle.

It is not a "flintlock" or a "side lock" but it is a "muzzleloader"

;)
