From the web, it won't be long before we can't ship elk & deer with these silly folks:

Big game hunters who fly Delta or American airlines are going to have to find another way of getting their gory trophies home.
“Effective immediately, Delta will officially ban shipment of all lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and buffalo trophies worldwide as freight,” the airline said in a statement Monday.
American Airlines followed suit with a similar ban on Monday.
Delta is not stopping there.
“Delta will also review acceptance policies of other hunting trophies with appropriate government agencies and other organizations supporting legal shipments,” the statement said.
The air carriers lowered the boom after two U.S. doctors became international pariahs after they were accused of illegally hunting lions in Zimbabwe.

Talk about overacting or a knee jerk reaction, Is it just me or do we too many times lose sight of the forest trying to save a tree !
You think? These people do not cease to amaze me. Delta does promote gay pride week or month here in the city of Atlanta. Just so you know. They will fly Caitlyn in but not Cecil...lol that's funny right there. Smh! Guess I gotta boycott the airlines to now. That's ok cause I like to drive.

This is a bad thing that's a fact. Remember thou most of the mounts and animals are shipped on freight airplanes so in the big sceme of things its more pandering by the airlines. I worry more about here in the USA. When will they quit shipping horns meat ETC from state to state.

Very true. This was my thought as I travel 2,000 miles west to hunt. I've driven all trips thus far, looks like I'll have to keep driving.

The only way these people will learn is when they ban all hunting in Africa. The money will be missed and the animals will be poached to extinction. Then they will wonder where they went wrong. You get what you ask for. Screw them and the other so called do gooders that think they are doing the wildlife in Africa a favor. I am over the we need to show a good face to the anti crowd. I fly Southwest anyways and will never fly Delta or American in the future.

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said on this thread. I will offer that this issue still should serve as an example of how powerful a voice some of the anti-hunting crowd has. A lot of anti-hunting groups are receiving plenty of donations to fill their coffers to use against us, and what we all love to do, because of the emotions that they stirred over Cecil. I'd say that in some ways, they are winning this particular fight.

I don't agree to pandering to anti-hunting groups BUT, I do believe that we, as sportsmen need to be aware of how we present ourselves to the majority of the public that are not hunters but don't oppose legal, ethical hunting. I've stated before that I feel that hunting t.v shows that show kill after kill with blood splashing all over and some guy beating his chest and screaming booyah into the camera really damages us all.

We, as hunters need to do it ethically and respectfully, to the animals we hunt and the people that don't oppose us. Even to the people that do oppose us, we can disagree respectfully and try to stay on the high road. I've dealt with some pretty rabidly anti-hunters and when given respect, even while disagreeing with them, it served me well. You won't change their minds but it steals their thunder somewhat.

I wish I could boycott the airlines that are going against us but that's not easy living in Alaska. By the way, Alaska Airlines have said that they will still fly trophies. (They don't go to Africa though). I'll reserve any judgment on the Dentist too. The only "facts" that I have seen have been from the internet...we all know how accurate and unbiased that can be...not! If he poached that lion he should take his hit, but his guilt or innocence has yet to be proven. Glad I'm not him right now though.

Friends, this season be responsible, be respectful, and be safe. Have a great hunting season.

Well written, well thought out comments. Great job.

Sometimes I have very little choice who I use when I fly. Unfortunate, but true.

I did read that UPS would not be reacting to this controversy the same way delta and others have...

The mere fact that a company is excluding a portion of their customer base intentionally to appease PETA is astounding.
I was always taught to obtain and KEEP a strong customer base, and there will be hell to pay if you intentionally exclude any one of them.
They pay the bills!

Take heed sportsmen, and generously applaud those companies that still abide by the good old American way, and stick it to the wallets of those that don't.

I do hope that SCI, NRA and other sportsmans groups will organize boycotts of the specific airlines who are doing this.

Delta is always asking me to fill out a survey after my flights with them which I generally just ignore. Well I just filled out the survey I got yesterday and I have a couple more from previous flights sitting in my inbox that I may fill out as well. This was my response in their comments box.

As a frequent flyer on Delta Airlines I am very upset about Delta's knee jerk response (banning trophy shipments) regarding the "Cecil the lion" issue. On my last African safari, five of us flew Delta to Jo-Burg and we are currently planning our next hunting safari to Namibia. Regretfully we will choose different airlines for all our future hunting trips whether we are flying in the US or abroad now that you have crawled in bed with PETA.

It's a small thing but if enough people respond to them they may listen...or they may not.
