iPhone solar chargers

Anyone using solar chargers on backcountry hunts? What brand charger is best?

I use the Goal Zero Guide 10 Mobile kit. So far it has worked very well. Honestly was thinking of getting the larger set up with the LED lights for my tent.

Dose the goal zero 10 moble kit also charge gps units... do you plug into a inverter with regular wall socket chargers?

We use a Brunton Solaroll 9. It will charge your camera batteries, cell phones ect. no problem... Leave it in camp for a morning/evening hunt or during lunch and you will have good juice going in. Did a great job in the high country this past year...

The Goal Zero has a soft foldable pouch that holds the cells. It has a pouch that will hold a small four place battery charger that holds 4 AA batteries. The Battery charger also has a few outlets on it that you can plug your devices into. A regular USB port and a 5pin hat USB port, similar to the older Blackberry style plugs.

My Iphone like yours uses the normal USB port to charge. Most devices these days are going to a USB style charge cord that plugs into the wall socket adapter. So it works well for most devices.
This unit is not equal to a wall outlet. No solor portable kit will be. However it will help you out in the field by keeping it charged up.
Strap the panels to the back of your pack and let it work as you hike. Or if your just sitting in camp or fishing.

I just ordered the Goal Zero Adventure kit 10 or whatever its called.. I am rather excited to see how well it works. I also ordered a SPOT yesterday for my Iphone.. I figure with my solar panel and SPOT, I can facebook and brag my shed hunting/hunting pictures while I am shed hunting/hunting. Not to mention, I can get lost and someone will find me.

I have sleep apnea and sleep on a cpap at night and started using Goal0 products last year and they work great. The stuff I have is obviously a lot more than you would need for just a phone charger. I have talked with them and they are great people and definitely have a great products.

I used the Goal Adventure kit last fall. With my iPhone 3GS, it would only charge to 70% on days with sun befor ethe iPhone would say "Charging not supported with this device". My biggest issue was the severe lack of sun for days on end during September. I will try it again soon with my 4s.
As a side note, I would be interested in a review on the SPOT connect for iPhone...

I have the spot connect and it is awesome!! It's nice being able to send custom text messages!

The goal 0 panels alone will not do an iPhone well at all. The guide 10 is the battery pack that they have that goes with the panels. I use the Nomad 7 Panel set up. It works very well. On the solar charge it will charge the guide 10 battery pack(four AA or four AAA) in about 2 or so hours with good sun. The phone charges off the battery pack perfectly. Infact it will charge the phone 2 or so times before it needs charged. It takes me about 3 hours on the battery pack to charge my phone from the 30ish percent to full charge.
I got my kit at Costco for $99. Came with four AA and the adapter and four AAA batterys. The 12volt socket adapter, a USB cable to allow your to charge the Guide 10 Battery pack from a computer, and a wand LED flex light. It also had the Nomad 7 solar panel setup with all that. Best price yet on a kit and it had more stuff than the kits at Sportsmans.

So far I have not charged a device other than my iPhone with it. But I do use the charger for the batteries in my other devices. About to buy more AA ones so I can charge my kids remote trucks batterys......they are killing me with battery consumption.
