These bins are (were) just a mile north of my place; I took the pic today on what would otherwise be a beautiful, late summer day in the rolling prairies; the haze is from smoke from all of us burning downed brush & the wreckage of our outbuildings. The barn was mine; took that Monday right after the storm passed. Still no power as of this post for me and most of us in this county. Iowa is in a bad way right now. Pls pray for us.

Wow!, not good.
All we have is 115deg. and no sight of rain.
Bird dogs panting like Labradors. 💥

I talked to my cousin today, she lives in Cedar Falls. Her place had no damage. Tough luck, hope everything else is OK.
Monday's Derecho's path was something like 770 miles of run across several states, starting in SoDak; worst damage is in a ~ 45 mile swath in Iowa; my place, just east of Cedar Rapids was in the sweet spot. 😆

There's 150' tall high voltage towers down; 34.5kV, 69kV & 115kV main lines are down that supplies much of this area. We had winds > 100mph for the better part of an hr. Been thru hurricanes back east in Maryland, but never seen anything like this. Its like Godzilla came thru.

Thankfully, my family and friend's weren't hurt, and our house, other than some flashing and fascia, seems fine. Barns can be replaced. Trees can be chopped up. With the power and water situation not improving soon, I sent my wife and most of my kids to her folks in PA. I have a generator, but that only does so much.

No good man, been a rough couple summers here in the midwest, between the flooding and the wind. Hope you all can get it all back together soon.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys; power just came back; well see if it holds? 6 days w/o power in your home will build character. Lol. Nothing like walking across a field of white face cattle in the pasture to pull buckets of water from the creek to manually flush your toilets for the better part of a week! The bull wasn't as bad as the cows with their little ones. A bit of a learning experience there. lol

I know we're flyover country and kind of boring and forgotten here, but its been a tough week in this part of the USA for some decent folks. God Bless!
