Inreach or inreach mini?

I have the Inreach Explorer Plus. I think either one is good. I like having a bigger screen display than the mini. Also when I bought mine it was on sale and almost the same price as the mini.

Mini for me as well. 3.4oz was the driver for me. I like to stay as light as possible on gear, and this was the lightest option that did everything I wanted.

I have the in-reach SE. It works good.

But honestly I just wish one that had an on and an off lever with a battery indicator. I enjoy simplicity. Mine is simple enough but I dont really even need a screen. Just pair it to my smart phone and turn it on when I need it and off when I am not using it. I wonder if thats how the mini works. I dunno cause I never put my hands on one.

Funny that this topic is coming up because I am loaning my in-reach se to a close friend of mine who is hunting unit 76 this archery season. It literally got sent in a fedex package an hour ago.

Max it does, I have had several people tell me that ONX maps is better and they only use inreach for the text part.

Here is my logic, take it for what it is worth. I use my phone for 99% of my mapping anymore. With the charging devices that I now have available to me battery life is not an issue for the most part as long as I remember to shut off my phone when I don't need it. The Mini delivers the custom messages very well, used one at the Eberlestock "Out There Event." For a man with three small kids and wife it is perfect and weighs next to nothing.

Same here Scott. I carry the Mini more for my wife's peace of mind than mine. A week is a long time to wait to notify somebody of an emergency back home, or to know Daddy's OK.
