Nonresident hunters will apply for a drawing for 2026 deer/elk tags, and they can submit their applications in early December, and results will be posted by early January.
This will actually be a very good thing, not having the website crash will be a great thing. Idaho has been a draw depending on where you landed in line. Now it's a draw for every unit or hunt.
If a person could only log in once, that would’ve helped a lot and the changes may not have been needed. It’ll be interesting to see what everyone’s thoughts are after the first drawing. The thing I don’t agree with is that there is no application fee, it’s going to cost to run the draw and I would like to know where that money is going to come from.
I am for this. The system the last few years was terrible. I also like the fact you can apply for elk, deer, pronghorn OR sheep, goat, moose. Cannot apply for both categories. Might help the odds a bit on the sheep side.
