Hunting partner

My little hunting partner here in the pic got his new bow and loves to shoot it but is having a problem keeping his left eye closed and cant focus on the pins, i was thinking of getting him a patch and think that would help because when i cover up his left eye he shoots pretty good and also is leaning back putting most of weight on his back foot any advice for the little guy. we have been working on it just wondering if anyone had anymore input on this. thanks guys

A patch would probably work good. That's a sturdy looking young guy, looks like a future moose packer. Bring him up in a few years!

Check to see if he is actually left eye dominant. It may be that he would have an easier time aiming with his left eye and not his right. I have known several people who shot better left handed due to that being their dominant eye.

i checked his eye dominant, before i got the bow and it is correct, i figured probally the best bet would be an eye patch. Yes i will be bringing him up the alaska one of these years when he gets a little older, but will probally have to bring my wife up there bob so she can do some photography and she has seen all your pics.

Have him try and shoot with both eyes open. A lot of archers do that, it might even be the correct way I believe.

I am left eye dominant but shoot right handed and I either close my left or it opens but I am looking through the peep with my right eye. I have shot everything this way so its habit. An eye patch would work also.

Retterath, quick question what release is your boy using? My 7 yo son has that same bow but I got him shooting fingers.

Make sure to check which eye is dominant every year. When my son was 5 he was right handed and left eye dominant but when he turned 8 I went to get him a new bow and somewhere in those three years his right eye became the dominant eye.
