I know that all the 2016 seasons are not closed, but it's time to start thinking about next year with some application deadlines looming in approximately 45 days.

What are everyone's plans for next hunting season?
I'm currently leaning toward an elk hunt in either ID/MO/CO, or a mulie hunt in WY/MO/ID.

I'm headed to Wyoming for Pronghorn and Mule deer for sure. Leaning toward an Idaho archery elk hunt but will apply for a really good rifle elk tag there. Will have to see how all other states go before filling other stuff in.

Highcountry muleys in Wyoming, trying to best my 185 buck this year...then planning a deep wilderness hunt with a good friend who will draw a general elk tag here as well..gonna go fight grizzlies for big bulls 30+miles into the woods...antelope hopefully as well again in Wyoming...then ill put in for good tags back around my central Idaho stomping grounds I grew up in and play it from there..I also have the points for a good highcountry Archery Colorado deer tag, but might wait on that hunt still...plenty of options!

Got my application in for a Kodiak Island goat hunt, but if I don't draw there, I'd like to get some friends in on a Wyoming antelope hunt or possibly some kind of OTC hunt somewhere.

Heading to Ontario with my wife to try and get her a moose with her bow. She is a new bowhunter who has never killed an animal with her bow so it should be interesting to say the least.

If all else fails the fishing will be good.

Then I will probably head back out west to hunt Mule deer in December.

I've got a easy year coming up. No real expectations on drawing a great tag but there is always hope.

Other than that I'll have a muzzle loader deer tag and elk tag in Colorado, a deer and elk tag in Utah, javelina in Arizona (already drew that tag) and perhaps a antelope in Wyoming.

I started a new job last month, so PTO went back to zero, and had to miss my AZ Coues hunt this year. I should have enough time next fall to take a 2 week trip, or 2 shorter hunts though.

A pard and I each have a few points for Wyoming antelope, so if he wants to cash in we'll do that and pick up cow elk tags to go with our antelope tags. Otherwise, I'll probably do Idaho deer and elk, as long as I don't get lucky in the other draws.

I've got a Alabama hog trip planned for a long weekend in March. Whitetails at home.

Booked a flight last week to hunt the Ohio muzzleloader for whitetail in early January. Been a weak year for hunting for me so hoping to start 17 off with a bang. Then archery in Ohio for the whitetail rut and archery elk and/or deer in colorado or Idaho.

Well, that's quite a way to start!! Out of curiosity, why not start with smaller/local game?
BTW: I'm envious!

I should draw a very limited muzzleloader CO deer tag with my 10 points. I scouted the area this year after getting shut out, and will be going solo up to 13K for as long as it takes. Later in Oct., I have a guided elk hunt in WY with a great outfitter that I have used in the past. I may put in for a hybrid elk tag in CO, but if I were to draw that then I would have to give back my deer tag. So much to do, and so little time.

Archery deer high country here in Co to start the year for me. Followed by archery elk with my 73 year old father. First season rifle for the wife on her return trip to where she killed a 350"+ bull in 2015. Wife could draw a muzzy buck tag and hunt w me but I think we will divide up the years of hunts. Starting to look at wyo high country as well.

My father has a bucket load of deer points here in co will pry try and draw either 44 - 4th or a Gunny unit 4th. I cant talk him into a high country deer hunt as it would cut days out of his archery pursuits.

Good luck to all in the draws.

Not quite sure yet. I'll be spending a couple of weeks in May in Wyoming fishing and scouting for a 2018 hunt. Turn in for Colorado Moose and Desert Sheep, both crap shoots for sure. Will probably hunt M/L elk and that's it. Still healing from shoulder replacement and will do the other after hunting is over next year. Really looking forward to '18 for some great hunting in Wyoming.

Unfortunately, I can no longer make any hunting plans without first thoroughly scoping out which states have legislation brewing to screw us 20+ point holders. It seems states no longer have any ethics when it comes to honoring the points they sold years ago. Every year it's someone else bending us over. So only after that research is done do I formulate an application strategy. Likely not until the last minute.

Tempted to do a Mule Deer in MT or CO perhaps,

OR

Archery Elk in MT, WY, maybe NM if I draw?

Money has been real tight but it's been a few years since hunting out west... need to make something happen.

Need a real hunt though, thinking about a guide and/or private land hunt.

Hopefully in 2017 but it may have to wait until 2018.
