With the price of a new set of cables and a string in the $130-$160 range how often do you guys change them ? Also where do you usually see wear on them?

It all depends how much you shoot and how well you take care of your strings. I’ve only replaced strings and cables one time and it was after about 4 years of owning my bow. The string stretch and speed decrease overtime is what caused me to replace. Wax your string often.

If you take care of your bowstring it should last a VERY long time.
I have to replace my D-loop about 3 times a year. After punching myself in the face last year and having to go to 1 knee, I change it at the slightest sign of wear...lol

I am on my third set of stings in 12 years with my current bow. I have never "needed" to change them but do so when they show pretty good wear. Wax often and keep your bow stored in a climate controlled area and they don't wear out very fast. I probably only shoot 200 or so arrows a year though. For guys that shoot a lot more, they would need to change more frequently.

I have done that, I actually believe I broke my nose, blood everywhere! I was really cautious the next few times I shot that bow.

If you're changing a loop more than once a year you have a problem with the hook on the release and/or some bad loop material.

For some reason my release that I shoot is hard on D-loops. I dont really worry about it. It literally take me 1 minute to tie on a new one. I might switch to a different style of release next year.
And yes, I dont know how I didn't knock my teethe out. Knocked out one of the lenses in my spectacles, shot an arrow half way through my woods and I had "duck lips" for about a day...lol
Oh yes, the lessons we learn. I remember looking at that D-loop saying " Meh, Its good for one more shot..."
Strange thing is that a couple days later my wife broke her bowstring on her Carbon Rose. Played hell trying to find a new one that was the right size. Her string was well taken care of too. I think it is the first string I have ever seen flat out break randomly in my life and I have probably shot near 1/2 million arrows so far in my life.

I usually change my strings every two years, since I shoot a lot. I currently have my strings made by 60x. Mine typically wear out at the cable roller.

Apparently it just depends. I had a set on for about a week once when I dry fired and broke them. I shoot a LOT. A set will last about a year before they get swapped out. As far as the D loop, First sign of wear it's gone. Maybe three or four times a year. And nothing wrong with my release. Just a couple hundred shots a week.
