Hey Hey Lucky Me...Won a Thompson Center 7mm-08 at RMEF Banquet. I know this will be a great mule deer gun, but will it pack enough punch for elk?

A Venture? If so, I have one and am starting to like it, but the magizine is a bit sticky to remove. Put a .284 bullet made for big game into the boiler room of an elk and enjoy the feast. A consideration for the 7-08, it tends to perform best with mid weight bullets, not the heavy weights. More of an OAL issue causing a bullet to have to be seated deep enough to impact powder capacity, than a cartridge choice issue, IMO.
