They are a sweet unit. VG trigger, smooth bolt and a Sako barrel with a MOA guarantee...love both of my T3 lites in 270.I'll have to say, for a production rifle, the stainless Tikka T3X CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 24" barrel looks pretty awesome. Live with the stock rifle for a while, then add a chassis stock on it down the road.

I bought a Montana Rifle in 30-06 about a year ago, it's taken this long for me to get it working well. The problem was that their bedding was done poorly, once I rebedded the rifle, cut the action bolts to the proper length, and filed a little off of the magazine well box it's performed very well. I've been able to get sub-MOA groups with several loads from 150gr to 200gr, both factory and handloads with several different shooters pulling the trigger. I've even made pretty consistent hits on 4"x8" steel at 400 yards. Don't get me wrong, I could have returned the rifle to the manufacturer and they would have fixed the problems but I chose to do the work myself but I feel that I shouldn't have had anything to fix in the first place, especially considering the cost of the rifle. My guess is that the problem was due to my rifle being a left handed bolt action, I think that they put it on the back burner and then after I started calling (9 months or so in to the build) they tried to hurry the assembly and they simply screwed up the QA inspections. I also think that if I had sent the rifle back it would have been fixed quicker but I wanted to see what it would take to make it shoot like I thought it should from a company with such a good reputation.Nosler rifles and Montana rifles have been the 2 I have been looking at.
Good luck with the new rifle, I'm sure it will be great right out of the box. You mentioned swapping Remage and Savage prefit barrels, I believe you can order prefit Criterion Tikkage barrels now. I am a Savage guy, but this is where I'm leaning for my next build.I ordered the stainless Tikka T3X CTR 24" barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor this morning. I saw some excellent reviews on it on some other forums. I will shoot it as is and have it for my daughter to shoot while she is still with me for the summer. Perhaps for Christmas I will add the chassis stock to it. I'm super excited! Thanks everyone for the help!![]()
He already ordered the Tikka.Take a look at Barrett's Fieldcraft in 6.5 CM. I've been around 2 and both were shooters.
