I've looked at this site on few occasions recently and decided to join yesterday. after reading thru some of the forums I saw a few people mention to new members that they should introduce themselves on this forum so I figured I would go ahead and do it. I kind of explained my introduction to western hunting in my profile but I will paraphrase here. I love hunting antelope, in nd it's fairly tough to draw an any antelope tag, usually about 4 or 5 years in between successful draws. well I was on my 5th year of applying and I was super unlucky and didn't get drawn. after a few very bad winters and the antelope population dwindling the ndg&f shut down the antelope season in 2010. I had already waited too long since my last antelope hunt so I started searching the Wyoming game and fish website, found a leftover tag and bought it. I didn't know exactly what to expect as I had never hunted anywhere but in nd. I went out to Wyoming in oct of 2010, I was successful, and I've went back every year since. this is a pic of my 2010 wy antelope. I'm not sure if it worked or not.

in 2012 a buddy and I got region d mule deer tags and antelope doe tags. we each shot our does and my buddy shot a smallish 4x5. I did not get a mule deer and I do not have pictures of our does or my buddys mulie.
this is a pic of my 2013 wy antelope, it's the same pic as my avatar

this is my best antelope to date and I couldn't have been happier with him. he was just a shade over 15 inches and pretty much everything I wanted.
my buddy and I have been building up pp for wy for antelope, mule deer, and elk. 3 pp for each going into 2014. we're burning our antelope points this year, or hope to, we'll see how the draw turns out. probably burning our mulie points next year. and not too sure of what to do with our elk points. I am a deputy with a small county in nd. I've been married for 9 years and my wife and I have 2 boys, 6 and 4 year olds. my 6 year old started wrestling last year and he has been a ton of fun to watch. he's a pretty tough little bugger and it's been amazing seeing how his technique has come along. I wrestled in high school and college and I know wrestling is a tough sport to compete in, I think it might be even tougher being a spectator. ha ha. well that's about it for me, hopefully my pic inserts worked. if not i'll try to put them in my profile if I can figure that out.

Those are very nice bucks. I really like the shape of the 2013, pretty cool. Wrestling is tough for a parent to watch. My buddies dad is one of those stoic cowboy types until he was watching his kid, then he was really into it. Kindof funny. Lots of parents like that I think. Until I got on this site I didn't realize people put in preference points for antelope. I have pretty much always just bought a leftover license. I guess I should pay a little more attention. I am not much of a trophy hunter, though, mostly because I haven't gotten a trophy yet. Well, good luck this year.

I feel your ND pain. I have 7 ND pp points and my younger bro has 8. Its been a lonnnnnnng time since we launched some lead at them critters. I don't think I've ever seen one in ND as nice as your WY buck. Good job.

Jeez I guess I should quit feeling sorry for myself if you guys have that many points. I thought anyone who applied with 6 points were 100 percent successful no matter what unit they applied for in nd. What unit did you guys apply for back when nd had a season? I always I applied for 4 a I think, the unit just south and west of bowman. If / when they do reopen the season that should be a great year to have a tag beings that they won't have been hunted for who knows how many years. 4 years as of now. There should be some pretty big b*st*rds walking around. And thanks to you and everyone else for the compliments on my antelope. That 2013 buck was the largest buck I've ever seen alive.

I don't even remember what the unit labels and boundaries for antelope were. I would be a unit or two north of you. I still make it out west every year and I have yet to see one that is even remotely as large as the one you took in 2013. 10+ years ago I used to see at least 20 different herds where I hunt and now I'm lucky to see 2 different herds. I think the best buck I've seen since season was closed would be 12-13. The next best one would probably be 11 inches. They just aren't living long enough to get old....or the old ones are getting like all the old ND residents and they're migrating south when the first bit of weather hits.
