I haven't ventured into this option, but am very interested in giving it a go. Been doing a bunch of research and can't quit thinking about an 80 lb fast bow. I did go to the Mathews dealer about a week ago and told him I was thinking about an 80 lb bow. He tried telling me there was almost no advantage to going up to 80 lbs. I also shot the Halon 32 at 70 lbs while I was there. Nice! This little voice inside me told me to wait though - so I left without making the plunge. I've read a bunch of comments on archery talk where guys trash talk 80 lb bows - but why not? If I don't like it I can crank the poundage down to 70 lbs and I'm back where I was before. Do you know what the cost would be to do the Wake Limb option?

Very intriguing to me. I have a Halon and a Wake sitting here along the Wake has 70 pound limbs. I think you're on to something though.

Every little bit helps......disregard the info that says it doesn't.....heck look at the latest attempt to break the 2:00 marathon record and all the technology that went into that.

I'd use one of the bow simulation programs and see actually what it gets you and translate that to your setup/arrow weight. I think it would be interesting and most likely will get you 1-2 more FPS per pound of draw weight you increase.

I think it helps, but what are the returns? I think that was probably his point...

Seems the more weight you pull the stiffer/heavier the arrows should be... so sure more power shooting heavier arrow...same trajectory, of course you will gain some energy.

Just like moving from a 60lb to a 70lb bow. However, I think I could argue the fact of a lighter for draw arrow (5gpi instead of 8-10gpi) on the 80lb, thus gain a bit more speed. You would still have a heavy enough arrow; Actually it would be heavy considering what one may have used in a 70lb rig. Just my $0.02

There are a few bow/arrow calculators on-line that would lay it all out. Its pretty slick and interesting to play with.

Biggest problem with an 80lb bow, most guys can't pull them...especially when cold.
