We had a blast at gres river elk hunting. We all tagged out brought a ton of meat home. Weather was cold and snow when we got there from a storm, weather was all over the place. Super cold at times. Tons of hunters everywhere, with lots of outfitters with horses. I spotted a few nice bulls but could find them when the season opened. Guys on horses ruled out there for sure and the horses torn up trails. Anyways we same lots of deer, some nice bucks, moose, bald eagles, and elk. The terrain is steep, heavy timber on north facing slopes, and south slopes easier to glass. Any dirt road had side by sides running up and down them with daily road hunters. Are motorcycles worked great but the farther in we went the slicker the Wyoming mud got. At times it was challenging and made our limits using our bikes. We worked the canyons but guys on horses always beating us however we managed to drop a few bulls and mine was last day evening I ended up shooting a young bull 4x5. My cousin ended up shooting a broken 6 point, but he was super pumped for his first bull elk. Like I mentioned the terrain is steeper than it looks. I rolled my bull down the hill a couple hundred yards to make it easier. We had a beautiful camp spot close to a creek and greys river.
