I've been lurking for a while, but 'joined' officially a few days ago. I didn't see a whole lot of introduction posts, but after reading eweb84's post, I figured I should.
Well, I'm 42 and have hunted since I can remember. Started with doves when I was 7 and since then, hunting and fishing has been a driving force in my life. I've been married for 15 years and have two children; a 9 year old boy and an 11 year old girl. Both share my love for the outdoors.
While our duck hunting in Northern California can be second to none, our big game hunting can be trying. We have our good areas, but it can take more than 10 years to get drawn for some. As I've grown older, I've been lucky enough to do some traveling to hunt. I've been to Africa twice with my father, who at 72 is still going strong. I look forward to taking my son there someday when finances allow. Alaska was another crazy adventure. Was lucky enough to get into the caribou and shot my dream bull.
My newest obsession is back country hunting. I've hunted the mountains around here for years, but never more than a days hike away from the road. After reading some of the stories here, it's time I expand my reach. I'm headed up into the Sierra's for my first solo backpacking trip later this week.
Photography is another hobby, so I'll post up a few of the family to kick this off.
Thanks for having me, and I'll report back after my trip this week.
