Sorry to hear that... The bad news My friend Frank has been sidelined for almost a year with shoulder operations on both sides. The good news We all wish we had lived in the 1830's with the West unspoiled but Medical care in 2016 is a bit better and they can fix you up pretty well today. Get the best Dr. you can and do what he say's. We are all rooting fro you.

Hang in there CC. You've been through worse, including the Carter and Clinton years. ;-)
You'll be just fine.

Hang in there CC, I know the news is discouraging but I hope once corrected you'll feel better than you have in years!

As I grow older and feel more and more of my aches and pains (a bad neck from high school football) I look forward to promises from the Bible "For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands."

That's frustrating. I feel your pain CC.

I am in my thirties and still in good shape, but I am worried about developing issues in the future. I have some lower back issues and some meniscus issues Are there any recommendations from some of the older generation for us younger guys?

Stay away from contact sports! Probably too late for most everybody here. Tough decisions when your young, I f I didn't play football, I probably would not have got the education I got I college. You play...you pay (eventually).

Stay young...see a good Doc/PT about the back/knees now, don't wait. Consider low or zero impact cardio, safer hobbies, light weights for some strength, use proper form & technique when active, are a few to consider.

Lots of stretching and flexibility work.
Great advice. Best wishes CC. I had an MRI on my shoulder last week with my consult tomorrow. I had to borrow a cross bow for my Wyoming hunt last month, and I bought my own a week ago as I still wanted to hunt whitetails. Looking at surgery over the winter as well. I get "dry-needled" for my lower back instead of deep tissue massage. Works fantastic.

Just got back from the new ortho Dr. Good news .....I guess! He doesn't think I need a bone graft. Surgery scheduled for November 21. Only problem as I see it is I may not get both shoulders done, one after the other. If I have to wait until April or May, I may opt to wait until November of 2017. I can't be laid up all summer. to much irrigation and work to do....plus fishing. Just have to wait and see how the rehab goes on the first one.

Sorry to read about your pain and upcoming surgery. I was a paratrooper and raced motorcycles all my life. Enough said about that. Good luck
Yep...too much football (high school, college & military). Already have a total knee replacement and a total ankle replacement from football, shoulders next.

Good luck. My guess is you'll be fine. I sense a determination in your messages, that I am confident will carry you through this. You are no stranger to pain, PT pain is just weakness leaving your body. Good luck and I'll be looking for your hunting photos next fall, you'll be ready. BB
