GMU 74 Colorado Elk Hermosa

Hi Guys... Planning on my 2nd only ever Elk Hunt in Southwest Colorado and the San Juan's...Looking at possible unit 74 NW of Durango after hunting unit 72 North of Mancos in 2014. Quite possibly could do Archery then 2nd Rifle this Fall... Just trying to familiarize myself with the Areas and hoping to pick up some Tips and/or Advice from some of you Seasoned Elk hunters. I am interested in accessing the area down off hi way 145 The Dolores River Road and the Western parts of the Hermosa Creek drainage ...Accessing the area by road 436, Roaring Forks up to North the Scotch Creek Road etc...We would like to drive in and sat up Camp and do Day Hunts hiking out by foot trails and return to Camp in the evening... No Horses or Stock at this point but may be possible...Anyone with a little knowledge of this area would be Much appreciated as I am New to the Eastmans Forum and trying to Learn...Thanks for your Views, Les
