What a great elk! I see he shot him with a crossbow too, One question I do have is why was the elk measured with the SCI scoring system? Does Boone and Crockett not have a category for crossbow harvests?

I believe SCI actually has a crossbow category, and so the bull is the world record for crossbow in SCI. The bull will also easily make the Boone and Crockett record book.

Boone and Crockett accepts trophies taken with a crossbow but Pope and Young does not. However, B&C does not have a category for animals taken with a crossbow.

I don't see a category for crossbow in the SCI record book, though I'm not a member, but I think it is among the choices for method of take.

He net 408 Boone and Crockett when scored that way...will become 4th largest typical in Wyoming history pending acceptance by B&C as well. . And according to the scorer..had he had the 7th point on his right to match his left he would have net over 420...Just an amazing bull all the way around..and in the national forest on a general tag! Gotta love seeing a bull like this taken by a person instead of by a group like Mossback and 20+ people that had spent every day watching its every move

I wonder if there will be a lot of people next season hunt the area now since the bull was so large.
As much of a draw as this bull is, the hunter's story will do as much to bring hunters in. He writes that they were stalking one 350 class bull when he got the opportunity at this guy. He paints the area like trophy bull heaven so he should expect some company next year!

I wish I saw that many big bulls at once. Funny how the only elk I see each year is the one I shoot, weird how that works.:p
