Flying with hunting gear

Getting to embark on the first journey to Colorado and cannot wait. Gear packed rechecked and ready. Now, do you trust the airlines with a loaded backpack on its own or do you put it in another bag to protect it? It is an EXO 3500 and don't think it will make it as a carry on. I plan on using my smaller daypack to haul electronics and anything fragile and can get some clothing into the bow case. What do guys think?

can zip tie the zippers shut/together... and keep extras on hand, if tsa needs to open it they can cut them, vs. if they were locks... then re zip for return flight...

just an option I've done before...

if stuff is hanging I'd consider putting a bag around it...

btw they sell big stuff bags pretty cheap at target, etc... stores like that...
