Fletching Testing

I just started fletching my own arrows and wanted to do some testing between different types of vanes to see which shoots best with my setup and was wondering how other people determine this.

Is the best way just to shoot groups at 40-50 yards and see which are the tightest?

Does it matter which type of fletching, offset vs helical, and which brand, blazer vs fusion, you tune your setup for? If I tune for offset blazers should it still be in tune for helical fusions?

Any feedback is appreciated.

I think if you are testing for which vanes are best, you should keep all of the variables the same, like same arrow, same fletcher, all offset or all helical. I think it depends on your rest also, when I shot a whisker biscuit the stiffer vanes like blazers seemed to hold up better. I have always shot as much helical as I can and have not had a problem with arrows flying good. Sounds like a fun test, let us know what your results are.

Ive been using 3" Fusion vanes with helical on my ACC 340s. they are a little stiffer than most vanes but they are super quiet in flight. Give them a try. I always like a little helical shooting broad heads.

I never go to testing all the different setups. I put the 2" fusion vanes on with the helical bitzenberger clamp and they shot great with both field points and broadheads. My broaheads (slick trick 100 grain) are hitting right with my field points at 40 yards. If it isn't broken don't fix it I figure.

Check out the flex fletch 300s it's a 3" low profile vane that flys amazing adding more stability for longer distance.

Helios Lighted Arrow Fletchings - Nockturnal

I know this is new but it sure seems like it would be something to try. I am hoping I get time this summer to try them out and just thought I would share theses with you since in going to test vanes out.
