That's not good Mallard. We found this one behind my house. My son about stepped on him. We usually dont get these in my part of Georgia. I bet you know what this is?

Cottonmouth but the body is all wrong...?!

I have personally never seen one but I know they are near my fishing camp. I hear they will mess you up really bad if you get bit by one.

Yes it's a cottonmouth. Considered a juvenile because dark color hasn't turned yet...but the environment may have to do with natural color. My creek and swamp are pretty clear clean water so maybe just natural color due to the environment.
