Matt, when my oldest 11-16 every junior hunt I was gone. Whether it pheasant, duck or deer. Now he's going to be 32 in July! My youngest likes to go fishing and has his hunting license but isn't interested. He is going try turkey hunting this spring though. Are you heading to the Madison this year?
Planning to go archery elk this year in CO. If that doesn't work out then I will probably head back to the Madison. Why? You ready to do a combo cast and blast now?

Great fish everyone!

Also someone said something about a bee pattern through the ice well this "bee" lived a good life but will be retired along with a long line of other jigs, flies, and lures that have just had enough lol! No pics as the cell phone died but the couple dozen 16" - 22" natives in a new lake I fished this weekend sure tore up the "bee"!

Also only the big macs go back if they are under 22" straight to the pan or smoker they go!

they were very picky on what they would hit, they wouldn't touch any streamers. blue fox triggered a frenzy thoughDSCN1014.jpg
rest of fish didn't get no pic, hands were freezing and I was in middle of river.DSCN1013.jpg
I threw cutbow back in but the cuts pink meat tasted so damn good breaded and butter fried!

Oh wow! Those look great Ivory. Glad you were able to get out. Looks like it was an awesome success. I may need to skip the Madison and come roll with you on your home waters.

thanks, say when. just got back from fishing this morn, fished my usual spot but only caught one, so figured they headed up closer to the creeks and dam to ready up for the spawn, so I too drove up and found out the hard way that it is an impossible feat! rd was great, then questionable, then turned to absolute dung right now! had no choice but to start backing down hill in reverse, couldn't really gun it cuz of big drop off on side of a way curvy rd, then my tires sank through a layer of solid ice that was on top of a foot of nearly frozen slush! no service, nobody in right mind would be driving up that rd so got to work with my tinny backpack shovel and dug and dug and dug. only thing that I had that got me traction to get out was some old wool Pendleton shirts I had. set in 4 low and crept out. idiot!

Matt, you chicken! Thought you were in it for the Adventure, the challenge and the great outdoors......
I am but a little adventure goes a long way. Icy steep roads and drop offs aren't my kind of adventure. Getting stuck and having to hike out with no cell service = no fun. I like the catching and eating part of Ivory's adventure.

I'd just wear my Kenetrek's , with my bait caster fly and a bubble! I'm in. I'll be heading that way in April, maybe I might bring my pole. Montana = Elk,Mule deer and fishing.

its all good matt, when/if... things turn bad my 11 year old boy can read stories to you. hahaha jk! as warm as its been I figured id be able to make it up there. last year I was up there mid feb. when I seen the road closed sign off to the side of rd tipped over I thought I was game. so with that place not being an option I'm headed out the door right now to fish the ole snake river with some beasty streamers!

You make me laugh Pete. I know you didn't just throw out the bait caster with the fly and bubble combo...lol. I forgot about the bubble. Been awhile since I've heard or seen that set up. I'm still laughing.:p

Sounds like fun. Our school's girls team got beat out of the state tournament this morning by a team that has basketball greatness in the water system. Every girl on their team has a parent & grandparent with a state championship title..geez.

Get to have fun this weekend, have a beach house rented, generator, lights & going to go to Rollover Pass to see how the saltwater bite is. During the day I'll go to some of the bayou lakes in the grass flats in a kayak to see if the trout & reds are interested in biting. Water is warm for this time of year...(something tells me hurricane season is going to suck this year)

I here for you Matt! Someone on this site has to keep everyone on there toes! You see the bubble with a little water in it will break thru thin ice.
