Elk Liver spots

Anybody know what causes spots like this on an Elk liver?

Maybe it had an aneurysm in the liver. I would pass on eating that liver

Never seen one with that, I'd call a biologist and see what they say, I don't eat the liver so never really worry about pulling them out to look at them. Looks a little to pink to me than ones I pull out for hunters that do want them but they say they can be pink, purple or a deep red.

I don't eat any internal organs. I was just getting the tenderloins out when I notice the liver spots.

what state did the elk come out of? wolf country? the elk I harvested, that killed my dog after she ate some raw meat from it had that same look to liver.

Weird... looks more like a lung than a liver.

Is it Brucellosis?

Prob TB. I kill a lot of beef. Heck killed 6 this week. There are very few times that a liver does not have spots on it.

If the liver looked that bad I would start wondering about the rest of the meat.

It was taken in Idaho. The locals say there is no wolves in this particular area and we have never seen any wolf sign but that doesn't mean they are there. I thought I seen a post on here about a similar situation a year or so ago but I can't find it.
