I need help. I want to start hunting elk and want to do it the right way by learning how to properly call and the various techniques etc....Can you guys please give me some suggestions on what you think is worth the money and time. There are lots of options out there. I have heard good things about elknut's materials. Open to all ideas and suggestions.

Buy a couple different brands of diaphragm calls figure out which one you like best. There are a ton of videos on YouTube that help. I have heard great things about Elknuts stuff. Last year I switched to bugling bulls calls and I love them. I learned all on my own from buying calls and watching YouTube videos

IMO first hand experience is the only teacher. I would watch all the videos you can and find some calls that are comfortable for you. Practice a bunch and then go hunt with an open mind. I feel like I learn something new every time I go. I have taken and guided a gob of successful hunts and no two were alike. To me that is what makes elk so fun and challenging. You can do all the home work you want and it is still going to be a challenge.... and super rewarding. Good luck and have fun!

Definitely check out elk nuts web site.
I bought some CDs from him and they are a great way to learn. The products he sells are first rate from what I have seen. Learn from the products, practice a lot, and then go out and see how you do.

See, that's the problem I have. When I call elk, they don't answer. It goes straight to voice mail. I'm beginning to think that it has everything to do with their carriers. They oughta go with Verizon. ;-)

What good would hunting do us were we to forget to laugh?

I am by no means an expert, but don't forget your cow calls. You can push a herd out with bugeling, where cow calls seem to offer you some stealth. It is a craft that not everyone can become good at. Use your stealth and cow calls while you learn the big bugle.

I believe in "Deep Timber Sounds" calls and video's. The calls and techniques are focused on public land elk. I have had many more encounters after using their products.

I'm a beginner to elk calls and bugles, I have seen the bugling bulls and they seen easy to use, any thoughts. I'm thinking of getting the bugle that expands and the cow call?

Last year I bought the bully bull grunt tub with their brown mouth diaphragm. When I let go of my first bugle. The bull answered over the top of me. I honestly thought it was another hunter using the same call because it was so similar. I'm happy it wasn't.

Never over look a cow call, that will keep them calm and when they are rutting hard, you will get every satellite bull around to walk in close with a nice cow call.

Thanks, I bought from bugling bulls " who's your daddy cow call" and mellow momma yellow diaphragm calls, and the select A bull elk tube system. I can't wait to get them and start practicing . Thanks for your help.

Youtube Steve Chappell, world class elk caller, I watched his clips several times and with some practice to and from work, I think I could whisper some sweet nothing's to some big bulls.
