Well it's time to see some more updates. Started in March, weighed in at 326. Now 269, so a loss of 57lbs. Still going strong.

Good for you ssliger, I have never been able to run in my life to get in shape, this year I worked hard at it, and have been running 6 miles every night. Finally starting to loose my gut and love handles, woo hoo!

Nice work guys. I've been lifting three or four days a week and running in between those. Can't wait for the hunting season to get here.

Wowsa. That's awesome. Keep it up!!
I've been starting to jog everyday and am going to start hitting the weights soon. It is great to have a fall hunt in the mountains to get me motivated!!

I have always hated running but recently found that if I do it in the woods, it is much more enjoyable. Trail running is the ticket.

What is a good alternative for running for someone with a bum knee! Bicycling is almost as bad as running. Any suggestions? I've got about 20 to lose and can't seem to come up with anything!

Depending on your insurance coverages, some docs will prescribe you a therapeutic pool prescription. Then you go and buy a continuous pool,(the ones that make a current to swim into). Insurance may or may not cover most to all the cost.(check with them on the coverage for it).
They make a great way to relax in the hot summer months too.
Jerry swimming cant be beat on a work out. No impact, and it works every muscle group in your body.

Jerry,
If you can get to the gym hit an eliptical trainer. No impact. I had a bolt put in my ankle last July and am just now starting to run again.(Doc said I would be good in 3 months! BS)
Anyway I use the eliptical and always put it on random. I am constantly changing the resistance as I work out. When I am going uphill I add resistance to really increase the heart rate!
I have also been doing P90X for the last two months. Great workout, but starting to get boring.
Of course I am in Afghanistan so all this hard work won't pay off for the hunting mountains unitl next season!!! Watch out dall sheep and mule deer!

I started at 219 and down to 208. I'll continue to train hard till Aug. 23 or 24 then take it easy that last week. I've been hitting the hills, stairs, and eliptical machines really hard. Also cut out most sweets and carbs. I'm about to eat a whole cheesecake..lol .A change in diet has been the hardest for me by far. An elk video a day has kept me highly motivated. Keep up the good work everyone. You will feel so much better in more ways than one.

Started November at 320. Tried to get five or six miles of some sort cardio. I can now run three miles nonstop on the treadmill. Lots of weight lifting. Now down to 245. Gonna ditch the heavy weights and really focus on cardio. And higher intensity strength training. Can do six pullups which is my biggest feel good accomplishment. Shooting for 225 for my Wyoming sheep hunt next year

I didnt even know this was going on. O well. I was 195 on April 15th and as of today I am at 180. That was my goal to get to before August 15th. Went for a 3 mile off trail hike today and it was so much easier with 15 lbs off the gut! Glad I did it and am looking forward to elk season now.
