From what I have seen of trail camera pictures of a couple different states that are just as dry I would say that antler growth is coming along just fine

The quality of food definitely has diminished as its gotten drier, but that's almost normal this time of year.

I am not a biologist but I would think conditions in the spring and how they come through the winter would have a bigger affect on antler growth then a dry summer would

From what I have seen across From friends hitting the hills this will be a good to average year. The late June moisturize here helped a lot!

I feel like it's been almost a weird season. I've been all over CO the last 6 weeks and it seems to me there are still pockets I'd call "lush" - even boggy (more than usual) while others like the SDCR are almost barren.

I spent several days at Green River Lakes and we almost got washed out while we were leaving, and the T-storms followed us all the way north to Idaho. The vegetation on my scouting trip in the Wyoming Range was 2 or 3 times higher than 4 trips in the past 10 years.

Like stated it's been really dry in SE WY the last couple weeks. I've been in the mountains around the state and antler growth seems pretty good. Been seeing some large moose with great growth. It should be a good fall.

I always worry about the weather. After I booked a hunt in Alabama years ago. Guy told us to make sure we brought fishing pole. Ponds full of bass. When got there that year all the ponds were bone dry with large cracks. Worst drought in 50 years. as you can imagine hunting in November in 90 degrees was not good.

Hope y'all on the Western Slopes are doing OK. I was out driving around early this morning near the Denver Airport this morning and the smoke from CO/CA was so thick it was like a yellow fog. I feel like it's not the "worst" year... but it's definitely not a "good" one either...

It's hard for me to tell with the Grizzly Creek fire being around 7 miles away along with smoke from the Red Canyon fire just over the hill from me. At least the Red Canyon fire is pretty much controlled and the Grizzly Creek one is getting there but there is still fires in Glenwood Canyon itself since it is too steep and too many cliffs in the area for real accurate air drops.

My asthma Dr office called shortly after the Grizzly fire started and told me to just stay inside as much as possible due to the smoke. I just hope that it clears up for the muzzle loader hunt here in a few weeks.
