Well, I'm officially done hunting bucks in Kansas. We are a one buck state and I was fortunate enough to arrow this guy at 18 yards on the second evening I sat in the stand. This is my 4th archery deer and my first from a treestand. He ran about 70 yards before piling up. Grizz trick did an awesome job! I haven't scored him yet, but he looks like a 4 yr old deer. Tons of fat from the corn and soybeans he has been eating! By the way, I found out it is hard to take pictures in the dark by yourself. It also didn't help that the camera died half-way through the shoot. Note to self, check battery before taking it with you.

Great buck, Congratulations. I'm real impressed you got self-taken pics like that in the dark too, that isn't easy!

I got mine with a muzzle loader last week and am not sure what I will do all fall now. It feels strange to be done already. I'm used to hunting blackpowder a little and then scouting all fall, hopefully tagging out during rifle season. I'm sure I'll do lots of glassing and take my wife until she gets her buck then maybe a couple local kids. I'm going to the National Finals Rodeo for the first time this year now too, won't have to be buck hunting during rifle season!

I know the feeling! I've never filled a tag this early. I only hunted two evenings and now I'm already done... I told my wife I hope she doesn't mind me being around the house a lot more this fall! She may tell me to go scout just to get out of her hair!

I'd love to Fink, but I've honestly never even looked into Missouri. I know a few people that live out there, but none that hunt much. One I know that hunts a bunch is... lets just say a little shady in what he does. (Not referring to you of course!) I may have to look into Missouri now that you mention it. OTC tags?

$225 archery tag, OTC. The tag is good for 2 deer and 2 turkeys. You could shoot 2 'any deer' before our gun season (11/15-11/25), or you can shoot a buck before gun season, and then use your remaining tag on a buck after the season.

Most of the public spots will be about worthless after the gun season, all the pressure really burns them out. But.... I may or may not know of several areas that are virtually undisturbed right up until the gun hunt. Let me know if you're interested.
