Does anyone run multiple kuiu bags on a single frame?

For those of you that hike in and set up a base/spike camp, do you bring a second daypack (like the Icon Pro 1850) and switch bags once you've set up camp? Or do you just carry the mostly empty 5200/7200 bag when you venture out for the day?

I have the 3 main sizes. I just choose the size that best fits the hunt. To save weight, I don't pack in a second bag. But having the 3 to choose from is nice.

Since we're on Kuiu packs questions, does anyone else have issues with your pack squeaking? Mine squeaks and I can't get it to stop, drives me crazy. It's the only negative I have on the pack.

To the OP, I just run one bag and don't want to pack the extra weight in.

You aren't the only one with this issue. I have it too, but its just occasional. I think it has something to do with how I tighten it up, but I know it is coming from the little plastic piece on the shoulder strap that slides in the slot of the frame when you adjust the harness up and down. I didn't have much of an issue with it when I packed into Colorado this year, but when I was training and had a 50 pound bag of sand in it I could get it do do it quite often. I never could figure out how to get it to stop, but like you its my only real complaint about the system.

My little plastic pieces broke on me this year and I couldn't keep them locked in. I called KUIU and they sent me new straps. We will see how they hold up this year

I used get this with my 1st generation icon 6000. When it was new, I adjusted the belt straps that attaches to the frame and this worked. When the noise came back, I took the belt off the frame and lubricated that contact point with some wax. Not sure what wax it was, thinking it came with the pack in the first place. Anyways, this seemed to quiet it down completely. From now on, before seasons start, I lube up that swivel area. Seemed to work for me.

Have not had that issue at all but it would drive me crazy as well if that happened. Have you tried calling them? They might have some ideas.

I too run just one bag since they compress down so much but I did pick up a pro 1850 bag only since I have the old suspension from my ultra 6000 pack (Upgraded to the pro suspension) and will be using this during turkey and varmint hunting.

I use a 5200 Icon pro for day hunts, scouting trips, 3-5 day hunts. Only one bag. I compress it down when loaded light, and by the end of day when i have peeled layers off( ie. jacket, gloves, sons coat, beanie) it fills the bag up. The items give it a little fluff. I smaller packs but i hate moving all my gear from pack to pack. It seems i usually forget small items in pockets like toilet paper, that one sucks to forget when you need it. One pack works best for me. In time I would like to buy another bag and frame in a smaller size so i had a smaller option, but my pack fits me well and is very comfortable, so i don't mind the larger bag.

I used the 1850 for my plane ride with all of my optics (and any other delicate/high value items). Then packed all my gear & clothing in my 5200 with checked baggage (but inside a large TAKU bag with my boots & misc.). Could also use a Sitka Drifter.

This worked out nice for traveling.

I don?t use Kuiu but I run a Stone Glacier pack. I unload my gear and compress the bag down for day use. Packing in a second bag is too much weight imo.
