Has anyone used the delorme topo software, i was looking at it for getting this year for some scouting but was wondering if anyone has it or used it. I have used google earth a little bit but it seems that i can only stay on roads to view from im sure im doing something wrong. That delorme program looks like it would be a awesome tool.

I've had their Topo North America 9.0 edition for several years and really like it. It was $100 at the time and I see the 10.0 in above link hasn't gone up at all in price!

Do have it where u can create a route and down load it to your gps? Are u able to view vantage points and then get gps cordinates from that area your looking at?

I have been using it for years. started with the 2.0 version I have the ver 6 now. It is ok. Hopefully they have fixed some stuff. The trails are inaccurate. big time. The delorme shows where trails aren't and trail are there when delorme doesn't show them. Water runs up hill in delorme. However for a lay of the land and where saddles, etc are. it works awesome. Just don't trust the trails.

I've only used it to make maps of an area with waypoints. Once in a while I'll put those waypoints into my GPS manually. I'm really not very literate on all the stuff you're asking about and have just kept the computer and GPS stuff as simple as I can for a dummy like myself!
