Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I haven't changed much since the original post, but what I have done is started walking fields a lot. We have had 5 inches of rain in the last 10 days and things are getting really wet. Put my mud boots on and started checking my fields. Doesn't take long to wear you out doing that! I've also started swimming when I get the chance. Nothing too drastic as it is not a big pool, but it does work my lungs and shoulders pretty good. When it starts to dry up I'll get into a running regime and start lifting some weights too. September 1 will come all too soon!

Hooray for that rain!! Just checked our corn yesterday, it's about 5 feet tall.

Oh, and keep up the good work on the exercise regime!

Yeah our corn and beans are looking really good. Wheat not so much. Dry land corn looks almost as good as irrigated in places. Our corn is only about 4 ft though

My training protocol has usually been to run as many miles as I can all summer (mix in some HIT/intervals) to A) reduce weight and B) strengthen cardio. A few months before you should be putting the pack on with increasing weight a few times a week if you are planning a pack-in hunt (or want to do well packing something out).

Good luck on your hunt!

I think something like running would help the most. Strength is good but the biggest problem you will have hunting will be running out of breath, especially with higher altitudes. Do something that works your lungs and hart.
I concur.
The biggest problem with flatlanders is that they can't breath. Running, if able, with some weight training thrown in, seems to be the most beneficial.

Take it out of sleep time. Most people sleep too much anyway.
I don't sleep enough.
I'm lucky if I get for hours in a night. I pray for more sleep time and tend to walk around exhausted most days.
Yeah, I have a sleeping disorder and a high stress job.
