Cow/spike bull tags for LaSal Mtns.

I'm a non-resident of Utah and am looking for info on the cow elk/ spike bull tags available for the LaSal Mtns. Are these tags available over the counter to non-residents or are they first come first serve? How are they obtained? Is there a deadline to buy these cow tags? We have applied for general deer tags in this area but if we fail to draw would still like to go there to hunt cow elk and learn the country for next year.

You have to put into the draw for the anterless tags which starts on May 25.

The spike elk tags are sold on a first come first sold basis until they are all sold out. They typically sell out in September.

Thanks Jim, Thanks for the info and the link. Don't know why I couldn't find that info myself. Probably because I'm not too computer literate. I used to hunt the Lasal Mtns. quite frequently for deer but haven't been there in about 12 years. Is the deer population and elk population still good? Of course I'm sure we will have a parade of 6x6 bulls stroll by us, this was not unusual when we used to hunt there.

I have no idea on how the population is doing for deer. The last time that I was down there deer hunting was around 12 years or so ago. I do know that the elk herd is going quite well for trophy bulls.
