I need to add a few new cow calls to the pack and would like a diaphragm and a small reed style for bow hunting without spending a fortune. What has everyone else had good success with for longevity, call quality, and getting the bulls to respond?
Thanks in advance!

I have had the most success with a Sceery ACE-1 Special Elk Call. Infact I carry a backup just in case I loose one. My second favorite is the Bugling Bull Matriarch Cow Call by Rocky Mountain Hunting Calls & Supplies LLC .

My favorite elk call is the Bugling Bull All Star diaphragm. One of the easier diaphragm calls to use and learn. I had a hard time learning how to use a diaphragm because of my sensitive gag reflex. The tone top helped to alleviate that problem. The call makes great calf, cow, and bull sounds. I have also used it for turkey calling and coyote howling. I like the Screey calls for handheld calls the most out of calls that I have tried. I would like to try bugling bull handheld calls.

Over the years I've used a lot of calls, mostly mouth diaphragm calls, but this past year I started using Phelps E-Z Estrus call. Absolutely the best call I've ever used. I've used estrus calls since Wayne Carlton introduced the fightin cow call. This call is extremely versatile, but the pitches and natural sounds that come from it are second to none.

As for diaphragm calls, I would say Bugling Bull game calls are the best on the market IMO.

Thanks guys I sure appreciate it! Still pretty new to elk hunting, I've been able to tag a cow the last two years and now I'll have a little more time next season and would love to tag any kind of bull. Using some of the proven calls I think will defiantly help.

This year my in AZ brother and I used a Hoochie mama cow call, it's hand held but sounds really good and easy to use.

Primos sells a 3 pack of reeds, single through triple that have a dome shaped top that have worked great for me through the years. I also have used some of the Phelps calls with success as well.
