Fairly new to the forums here, but not to Eastman.

I have applied in years past, for NR preference points in Colorado. I went a few years without applying for them. I checked the website but cannot locate any info on whether they expire or lose them if you don't apply for them every year or couple of years.

It varies by state, and have points accumulated in other states as well and each state is different. I emailed the Colorado Division of Wildlife last week for information on that, but did not get a replay. Before I call them, I thought maybe someone here may know.

Thanks-

From the 2013 Big Game Regulation brochure...

"If you fail to apply for
or have not purchased a license during
a 10-year period, all accumulated points
for that species are purged from your
record and become void."

It may take them awhile to respond. I've found that making a phone call to them is the quickest way to get information from them. They generally always can look up any information you want in a matter of seconds. I had moved away from Colorado for six or seven years and thought I'd lost all my PP too but after I called them, I found out that I still had all my deer, elk and pronghorn PP's. Ten years is the law now.

I have 17 CO NR elk points that I'd trade you for a 12 pack of Bud Light, if they allowed it.

LOL- I'm sure a few of us could use them- :D

Thanks CoHicntry- 10 years is good to know....

I accessed my account(Thanks Umpqua) and it says-

Current Preference Points

Species Points Weighted Points
Deer 3 0
Elk 1 0

In Wyoming, if you don't apply for two years you lose them, and in Iowa I have 3 preference points there, and I never lose them there, even if I don't ever apply for any again. I try to keep track of them....:D

I'll have to go look up weighted points now.....always something......
