I think that was taken the wrong way. What I meant was I dont' think its worthwhile to build elk points in CO. The good limited entry units take many more points to draw than the value of the hunt - 20+ years to draw a tag, etc. That's knocked on the middle tier units like 76 - point inflation. If I elk hunt in CO it is OTC or on leftovers - yes there is lots of great hunting available, just not worth trying to stockpile points for the most popular units in the state.
Agree with you on not building points in Colorado unless you are wanting to go RFW or 2/201.
Disagree with the good limited entry hunts taking too many points. (ease of access good limited entry hunts take too many points)
Just my opinion though, all depends what defines your hunt. Mine is screaming animals with a better than average chance at a mature 6x6 or heavy horned 5 x 5 and low hunters per mile density.

Points for elk in Co are yea kinda silly if you are chasing top units - as the ability to buy a point then hunt bulls otc is the reason for massive point creep but the cpw likes it as it helps keep the coffers full of $$.. The otc licenses also makes certain areas a total zoo as unlimited hunters = unlimited pressure..

I would like to see elk draw only every unit in the state cut all the licenses at 80 - 20 res/non res split - if you hunt any elk you loose all your points. Point creep would be gone in a couple of years but the masses want their cake and be able to eat it too and the cpw likes the $ so I doubt it will change.. Hard to argue that going to draw only for deer is the main reason we have 180+ bucks in every unit in the state.

With that said I never get more than 1 elk point as elk hunting with family is the top priority to me but if I was into gathering elk points in CO - it would only take me 2-6 to be hunting 350" bulls every day in the early seasons. Yep as that is what a bit of limiting pressure can do to any zone in the state but Colorado elk is managed for the most money or wait "opportunity" so we will not see that anytime soon.

I think that is why the middle tier units some folks dont like them as you still have to work to get a animal as in reality these units have become just a break every 3-6 years from the unlimited pressure..

Can we (NR) even do RFW though?

While hunting other states and expecting to draw a CO deer tag this year, I find that I have accumulated 9 pts. or elk in CO. I don't have a plan to use them at this time, and the area that I had origionally hoped to hunt for MZL elk I did spend 9 days in last season on horseback. I didn't have a tag, and was the packer only...the pt. creep is up to 10+ now and in the time spent there were far too many hunters and far too few elk. Soooo...my question is, do I stop buying pts. and just ride these until I decide to use them? App. time is coming up, and it's not a big deal to buy an elk point when I put in for the deer tag. I suspect that I may have to burn them on a guided hunt in a few years as I am finding myself in C.C.'s situation; getting older, and most of my friends can't or won't do this stuff anymore. There's lots of guys with no pts., but that doesn't help me any. I do have two elk tags in WY this year, so I can still feed the need.

Have you downloaded the new app?

I have jumped thru the hoops, but being a little computer challenged it doesn't seem to work. Very displeased with this experience and quite frustrated. Guess I should have stayed with the paper subscription.

Message me your order number and I will have customer service give you a call.
Just got off the phone with customer service to find out that the full digital magazine is not yet available. I would say Eastman's is cutting it close on this. Hopefully I am not alone on finding this new magazine release as poor customer service on their part. It is available on smart phones and tablets for those that have them. Just my two cents.

I can not get the mrs section to expand on the computer. It is very very small. On the phone app it expands but not like most app magazines. I hope they work the bugs out soon. Not trying to sound like a complainer.

Right click the image, open it up in it's own window. I made it high res so you guys could read it this weekend and have the data. We are implementing a couple of tools I think all of you will like that will help with readability next week.
