landed yesterday!

But no revelations. Takes too many elk points for decent units, just about the same for rifle mule deer. Archery deer is great and long lottery for Moose, BHS and MG. Pronghorn mostly private - but if you find a place u can OTC archery hunt it. Sound about right?

Ehhhhhhh.....I dont know about that. I think if you compare MRS vs herd objective levels vs herd count totals vs bull to cow ratios vs leftover tags last year vs the limited hunt GMUS vs draw data from last year.......that may paint a slightly different picture. Just my opinion though:)

Colorado doesn't have many units that put out much in the way of B&C bulls but it has a lot of units with good size bulls and easy draw.

Colorado has a lot of very good mule deer hunts capable of producing B&C bucks and quite a few that don't take a lot of points. I saw a 30" buck last year in a unit that takes 0 points for 2nd season.

Sure....if you are after a 360" or better bull I'd agree with that. How many men though will pass on a solid 325 -330" animal?......Good numbers of those to go around. There are though a lot of units that require "effort to get to the animals".......that produce bigger than average animals. I've been part of two hunts that produced some 340" bulls in a unit that has leftover tags EVERY YEAR. I was just the wrangler running the pack string and glassing.

However comma, how hard will the human work to get to them is they key:) Lot more data out there to consider than just the MRS...although its a very very very good place to start when comparing points needed and all the categories of info it combines. Past trophy, opportunity, access. terrain and pressure.

You are spot on about the deer.

That's really interesting about 340" bulls on hunts with leftover tags.

You're right about effort being the key on either species. That 30" deer was two miles in and 1000 ft higher than the end of the dirt road. We ran into a couple more great deer up another 1,500 ft and a mile and a half from that point. Saw lots of hunters within 1.5 miles of the road, didn't see any where we were.

I know of a couple of areas where there are 350-400pt bulls in a OTC unit. The problem is access and the price that the outfitters in that area charge reflect that.

On those buck that hoshour is talking about, a lot of that area is private up high and the bigger bucks like it up there. I was muzzle loader hunting that area and I could just sit and watch the bigger bucks first thing in the mornings with no legal way to go after them.

So, the digital magazine will no longer be available on the website? Only through the app? When I go through the app, it tries to charge me for the magazine, despite logging in, and having a subscription..

I think that was taken the wrong way. What I meant was I dont' think its worthwhile to build elk points in CO. The good limited entry units take many more points to draw than the value of the hunt - 20+ years to draw a tag, etc. That's knocked on the middle tier units like 76 - point inflation. If I elk hunt in CO it is OTC or on leftovers - yes there is lots of great hunting available, just not worth trying to stockpile points for the most popular units in the state.
