Thought I'd share a photo of my 2017 archery buck from Colorado. I hunted solo this year and was able to find success on my 7th stalk and on my 6th day of hunting. This buck was grouped up with 7 other bucks and he was the best one in the group. I glassed him up on opening day and then a few days later and finally figured out his pattern. They would feed their way up every morning to the top of the ridge at 13000' and bed. So on the final day I hike my way to the top and planned to ambush them. However rockslides occur for no apparent reason in the high country and changed their course. At that point I thought the bucks were gone. Luckily I spotted one of the bucks under an outcropping of rock and made my way down to where I saw buck who had since got out of view. As I came over the outcropping the bucks were looking in my direction as it was really tough to walk silently. They stood long enough for me to quickly recognize the larger buck and range him at 45 yards. I was able to make a great steep downhill shot and he took off running. He quickly started tumbling and piled up in view. It was an awesome experience.

Awesome buck! I think that going up high and killing them with a bow in the early season is a very impressive feat.

Thanks fellas. Yes Josh 7 stalks. I told myself I'm stalking at least one buck everyday until I tag out. I had quite a few close encounters that didn't work out including sitting on a four nice 4x4s for an hour at 20 yards until the wind busted me. It was very rewarding to come home successful.
