Choosing an arrow...

I'm struggling to settle on an arrow. I'm shooting a 2010 Bowtech Destroyer 340 set at 69#s and a 31" draw. I feel like I need to pay special attention to the spine tolerance, given the long draw length and the amount of power going into the arrow as I release it. Am I over thinking this? Does anyone have any suggestions a particular arrow that would suit this set up? Any and all thoughts are much appreciated.

well like i usually say... I really like the fmj. and I really really like the fmj with brass insert! fmj with some blazers just fly like darts for me. Been shooting them for three season and don't plan on changing anytime soon. I think a 340 would still be fine for you. You would be close to the 300 spine mark but not quite. who knows the real answer?!?!? Just you and your bow. shoot both if you can swing it and see what it likes :) fill us in with your results and best of luck!

P.S. I am shooting 74 # with a 29.5" draw. so close to the line as well but it likes the 340s with inserts!

I would shoot a .300 spine or more depending on how much weight your going to put up front. Build a heavy arrow man! You'll have so much KE and MO with that setup it would be unreal! I have an archery program that gets real scientific with spine and is much better than the grids on the arrow boxes. If you're interested I could run your numbers for you.

I agree with nvarcher, I tend to shoot a little heavier spine than recommended in the charts. A heavy arrow, all else being equal is quieter and penetrates better.

Caseyu: Thanks for the recommendation- I will definitely look closer at the full metal jackets.

nvarcher: I like the idea of going a little heavier, as opposed to lighter. I'm going that route.

Bob: Great reminder- heavier= quieter & better penetration. You and nvarcher have me convinced.

Thanks again, guys. Really appreciate your thoughts!
