Now that we are getting down to the wire on season openers, everyone is honing their gear to get the most for the least weight. As an alternative to battery powered devices that cannot always find a signal, I always carry an old fashioned signaling mirror. These were a staple at anyplace that sold Boy Scout equipment for many years. Nowadays, since the scout handbook teaches cooking on the electric range, they are not so easy to find.
