The one stand that I bought when I lived in Wisconsin and say in a tree a lot that I thought was really nice was a summit. Don't remember the model, but you hung the stand with multiple straps so if one failed you had backups and the platform had leveling adjustments so if the tree wasn't straight you could level the stand. It was also a 30"platform made from aluminum, it just felt rock solid.

I've moved to ladder stands now that I own my own ground but when I hunted public I used a Summit. Great climber. I also wear a hunter safety system vest, very comfortable and fortunately I have never had to put it to the test.

I had 2 rivers edges, and I cut them into pieces and recycled them. Take them in whole someone might try to use them.
Regardless of their lack of quality or no matter how nice the stand do yourself and your family a favor and where a safety harness.

If you have a rivers edge tree stand you can look under the bottom of the stand and there should be a number stamped on it, if its number 10 that was me. If there's no number it was likely done by the robot
so, if no number "10" I shouldn't trust the stand? I plan to use a harness. on my break ill go check the stand. thanks for the info guys.

If it has the number 10 the welds are good, I still wouldn't trust the straps or the harnesses.

We hunt climbers often in my part of the country (Mississippi). While everyone has their preference, most prefer the Summit Viper if using a climber. If you are talking a "hang on" stand I would go with the Millenium. As far as a safety vest I recommend the Muddy.

Rivers edge. its not a fancy one by any means. my brother bought it at sportsman's 5 years ago, he never used it and I bout it from him 3 years ago, and I've never used it.
I doubt you find a good way to carry those other than strapped to the rack of an atv, which is actually my favorite way to carry one. Now season in deep east texas is not exactly a fun time to be walking through swamp grass and walking up to the base of trees. Hung many stands without ever stepping off a 4wheeler until the temps dropped.
