My hunting partner (Fred) drew one of the most coveted tags in the Golden State.......an archery Tule Elk tag. After spending a full week of scouting before the opener, he was able to pattern several good bulls before the opener thisw past weekend. With about 15 minutes of daylight left on opening day, this bull came by and he was able to fill his tag with a great P&Y class Tule Elk. Hope you enjoy.

Nice bull. Back in the mid 50's my Dad drew the very first bull Tule Elk permit on the first ever hunt. Had to be accompanied by a biologist from F & G who told you which bull to shoot. My Dad shot a really nice 6 x 6. As Dad told the story, the biologist pointed out another bull he wanted him to shoot. Dad said it had about 1/2 of one side of the horns broken off and he didn't want it. He shot this 6x6 that was standing right next to the old bull with the broken horn. The biologist was a little put off, but dad told him he thought he said shoot the one he actually got. Great story from a long time ago....my Dad is now 93 and still hunts elk, deer and antelope with me.
