gonna put a leupold vx-2 3x9x40 on it. I know there are better scopes out there but I have always been pretty happy with that setup. it's what I put on most of my rifles.

IF I ever win the lottery I might try one of them swarovskis rifle scopes. I do have A pair of their 10x50 slc binos an they are awesome. but they not cheap.

Go to the Google home page and type in Leupold VX3I 3.5-10x40mm, then click on the shopping tab. First one that comes up is a place called something like shopping lots, or something like that. Anyway you can get a brand new one for $329, about the same money as the VX2. I bought one from them a month ago.

I'm a browning fan as I have two abolts. I will say I did like the win extreme weather but passed on it due to weight. Where I hunt I favor a light weight rifle for the long packs. You can't go wrong with either one to be honest!

the weight difference was not much of a factor.
win extreme 7.1 lbs
browning a bolt 6.7 lbs
browning x-bolt 6.5 lbs
all weights based on .270 with 22 inch barrel.

could have got the browning a bolt a few hundred dollars cheaper then the win extreme, though.
the browning x bolt was a wee bit cheaper then the win extreme but pretty comparable.

I liked them all. in the end,I just liked the win more

Glad you chose one!! Looking at the weights there isn't much of a difference but man, my abolt wsm just feels lighter!! Maybe the short barrel plays with my mind. Either great pick!

That's hot. A M70 with a stainless barrel was in the running last week when we bought a new rifle.

Ended up with another Savage, but that gun was sweet.

finally went out to sight my .270. still got some fine tuning to do but not to shabby for just shooting off hood of truck with 10-15 mile an hour winds from right to left. all at 200 yards bottom three are shooting hornady 140gr interlock, middle three I clicked it up an inch, top three I was shooting on same setting as middle three but using rem coreloct 130 gr. all are factory loads.

orange pic is .243 shooting freehand(as I might??? if hunting) at 100 yards . win .243 100gr power points.

I was never able to get past the sound of the safety being turned off on my model 70, so now my friend is the happy owner and I am quietly moving the safety to the off position on my Browning. I have never heard anyone else complain but that noise really bothered me
