ok, I have decided, the time has come to hand down my trusty old companion(win .270 sporter) and I am going to buy a new .270 . after looking around ,I have decided to go with one of two choices.
either the browning x-bolt stainless stalker
or the winchester extreme weather stainless
I like both but am leaning towards the winchester. I like the three position safety .plus I have owned winchesters and like them but never owned a browning.though I have often considered it. they are fairly comparable in cost so that is not really a factor. and .270 is pretty much set in stone for caliber as I have more then enough rounds to last my lifetime.
any plus or negative opinions from anyone on the two?
also any opinions on 22"vs 24" barrel. I seldom shoot farther the 100 yards and max is about 400. so ,would that two inches , make much of a difference?I believe my sporter has 24 but as I age I find lighter is a consideration also.lol.
this will very likely be the last rifle I buy
