Bullets?

Throw me some suggestions for bullets for a mule deer/ antelope hunt for a .270 win. I know neither are particularly hard to kill, but being an eastern guy, I have very little experience on game past 100 yards. I shot ballistic silvertips from this gun for a while, but the fouling from the black lubalox coating really took the accuracy, and took way to many hours to get the barrel back to normal. After I got the barrel clean, I shot some hornady American whitetail (interlock) which shot pretty well but I haven't hunted with them.

My favorites for the 270 Win are the 130Gr Nosler Accubonds or 130Gr Barnes TSX. These same bullets in 140Gr for my 270WSM.

Any factory hunting bullet sold will work for mule deer and antelope. If you want to go on the cheaper end the Hornady American Whitetail or Remington CoreLocks will work great. I shoot Hornady Interbonds for everything because they shoot great out of my rifle. My advice would be to find a few options in your price range and see what your rifle shoots best.

The Hornady Interlock is a great antelope/deer bullet. If your gun shoots them well, your search is over. Buy a few boxes, sight in, and go hunt.

Really cant go wrong with pretty much any bullet these days for that size game IMO. I'm a Nosler guy so Ballistic Tips, Accubonds and Partitions are on the reloading bench. Barnes TTSXs for the Greater Republic of California trips. :)

I have shot Sierra Bullets for 50 years. I use their Game Kings for everything except elk, then I use Nosler Partitions. I have shot over 100 big game animals with Sierras. I guess you can say I am a satisfied customer.

Accubonds here and love them. I do believe a guy can go much cheaper and still do just as well. I worked at the Remington Arms factory in Lonoke, AR when I was in college. They work hard at turning out a great product. My folks made Core-Lok bullets for over twenty years. Still a great bullet after all these years. I wish all sportsmen could visit the factory. It was interesting enough that I made engineering my career.

One shot, one killed, 4 deer, 7 antelope, and 3 elk with 130 grain core loks out of my .270 in the last 4 years, think they work alright. Only one elk got shot twice and that was one of two that I got last year, and it might not have needed the second shot.

I could see that old factory from my front yard when I lived in Lonoke, interesting, fascinating little town that place is.

I've been shooting Core-Lokt ammo almost exclusively since the late 70's. Both .270 and 7mm Mag and have never had an ammo failure and never lost an animal.

I had inquired about the Core-Lokts in the forum a while back after finding that they shot the best of any load out of my Tikka 30-06. It has done the job this fall with one shot kills on a mulie and three antelope. At $18 a box, why change. I have always preferred the premium bullets, but with this kind of results I plan to stick with them. That said, my elk gun shoots handloaded Barnes TTS best.

I am using berger in my 7mm. They are really good at longer ranges. I use to use Core -Loks and they always preformed perfectly, no reason not to use them. They are the most effective bullet and several test I have read prove it, still I will use the Berger 168. Its loaded by HSM and goes 3067fps measured, from my Browning with BOSS.

I like the accubonds or berger for deer and antelope. My long range 7mm dakota I shoot bergers for everything.
