Like was mentioned earlier, Jackson,WY has plenty of places that sell taxidermy. Not sure if it is consignment or resold.
I know in CA the law reads that you cannot sell any antlers or horns, or "Parts" of CA Big Game. I do know there is an interstate transfer tag you have to get in WY for taxidermy, or skulls of big game.

I know a lot of the mounts in the Gander by me are local hunters loaning them for display.

I just looked on eBay out of curiosity. There is no shortage of elk mounts for sale. One of the first listings is a nice 350 class bull for less than 1k. I would keep it in the family if at all possible as I am betting you will struggle to get anywhere near what it would be worth to you guys down the road.there's no way they would pay for the mount though, not enough at least. I think my best bet is to take it to a shop in Jackson Wyoming come tourist time, some rich guy that doesn't hunt but wants one in one of his summer homes would be they guy that pays the mula. my brother is selling it, I told him not to but his new woman has changed himI may just buy it off of him, that was a fun hunt and I cant believe he wants to sell it. he deff doesn't need the money.
