Hey guys, I am heading west tomorrow with my 16 year old son, his first trip. We are mainly hunting deer in region Y, but he also has a cow elk tag for unit 36. I hunted the Bud Love area about 5 years ago and saw some deer and plenty of antelope. I was wondering if anyone has any input on that area. I know it has been a really dry year everywhere, is that affecting game? Any sight would be appreciated. Thanks and good luck!

Not much I can offer except..... from the large parking area (some campers) go west across the large meadow. The fairy steep timbered ridge has/had a pretty good bit of elk sign. If you continue over the ridge, you get into some really pretty country. That area is also accessible from the Corral Creek Road. Both ways require a pretty good hike. You can also access via French Creek road, but you have a half mile or more of boulder covered road, before you get to French Creek.....which is the area boundary ( at least for resident general tags)!

There are elk there, but, it’s a pretty physical hunt to/from the elk! Good Luck! memtb
